My grandmother taught my mum the art of making Appelstrudel (traditional Viennese strudel). Needless to say the only apple strudel to pass our family’s lips is this Austrian dish, which my mum mastered many, many years ago.
Unfortunately I missed the memo on learning how to cook this traditional strudel. I know my grandmother would be turning in her grave right now, but none-the-less this version is almost as good as what I grew up with. It’s quick and easy and dare I say a much healthier version.
Not quite the Appelstrudel my grandmother used to make but this healthier version tastes just as decadent.
