Ingredients 2/3 cup margarine or butter, softened
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
2 cups plain flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2/3 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Store bought custard
Preheat the oven to 180 C. Lightly grease either a doughnut baking pan, a muffin pan, a mini muffin pan, or a cake pop maker. I've used a cake pop maker here because it was a gift and I'm trying to learn how to make things in it! But any manner of baking works.
Use an electric mixer to beat together the butter and sugar until smooth and creamy.
Add the flour, baking powder, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt. Beat until just combined.
Add the milk and beat until smooth.
Fill the muffin (or mini) tin to about 2/3 full. If using a sake pop maker, full the bottom half of the pan.
In an oven - Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the doughnuts are golden. In the cake pop maker - bake for 8 minutes.
Allow the doughnuts to cool.
Cut a hole in each doughnut.
Fill a piping bag with custard, then pipe a generous amount of custard into each doughnut.
