Chocolate Caramel Slice

A delicious dessert for caramel lovers everywhere. This version uses a biscuit base rather than a brown sugar/ coconut base to highlight the caramel while not being too rich.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 12 servings

250g sweet biscuits
125g butter
1 tin condensed milk
50 g butter
2 tablespoons golden syrup
200g chocolate

To make the base:

Crush the biscuits into fine crumbs.

Melt the butter and mix through the crushed biscuits.

Pour the biscuit mixture into a greased slice tray and press firmly to form the bottom layer.

To make caramel filling:

In a pan, bring condensed milk, butter and golden syrup to the boil.

Stir for 5 minutes.

Caramel ready to go

Remove from heat, then pour the caramel onto the biscuit base.

Bake on 180 for 10 minutes, then remove from the oven and refrigerate while melting the chocolate.

To make chocolate top layer:

Melt chocolate and spread over the caramel layer.

Chill in the refrigerator overnight to set.
