Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread

The perfect combination of chocolate and banana in a lovely moist loaf.

Banana and chocolate loaf.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 60 minutes
Makes: 10 slices

2 c plain flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 c butter
1 c sugar
2 free range eggs
3 ripe bananas
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1 tsp vanilla essence
3/4 c Smudge or cocoa spread


Preheat oven to 170 degrees C.

Dry ingredients.

In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda & salt.

I used lovely brown sugar.

In a separate bowl, beat sugar and butter until well blended, beat in the eggs one at a time.

Wet ingredients.

Next add mashed banana, yogurt and vanilla, stir until combined.

Gently fold.

Mix wet and dry ingredients together.

Nutella works too!

Melt Smudge in a microwave for about 30 seconds or until runny.

Remove 1 cup of the banana bread batter and mix with the melted smudge.

You should now have 2 bowls of batter.

Line a loaf tray with baking paper and spoon chocolate batter alternately with plain banana bread batter.

This is the fun part.

Swirl mixtures together with a skewer or chopstick.

Bake for 60 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.

Allow to cool in the pan for a few minutes and then turn onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Perfect with a cuppa.

Cut into slices and enjoy dolloped with Peanut Butter Dip.
