Coloured popcorn is great for parties
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Serves: 4 cups
Ingredients
1/8 cups corn kernels
4 tbsp oil or coconut oil
1/8 cup honey (or maple syrup if low FODMAP)
1/8 cup coconut oil
Food colouring, colours of choice
You will need
Large saucepan with lid
Jars with lids or bowls, 1 for each colour
Plastic bags, 1 for each different colour
I made 5 colours and used 5 bags and jars.
Method
Preheat the oven to 50 degrees. Line 2 - 3 baking trays with baking paper.
Heat the oil in a saucepan on medium-high heat. The oil is ready when two kernels are dropped in and spin in circles.
Cook the popcorn with the lid on, shaking occasionally. Set aside to cool when it stops popping.
Divide evenly into plastic bags.
Microwave the honey and coconut oil for 40 - 45 seconds to melt it, whisk to combine.
Divide the honey mixture evenly into the jars, add food colouring (3 - 4 drops for light and a 1 - 2 tsp for dark coloured popcorn). Put the lid on and shake until the food colouring is combined or whisk if using a bowl.
Pour the colouring and honey mixture onto the popcorn, twist the bag to seal, hold on tight and shake until evenly coated.

Combine the food colouring and honey mixture, pour on the popcorn, seal and shake to cover
Spread the popcorn on baking trays

Spread the popcorn and be careful not to mix the colours
Bake for 20 - 30 minutes until dry.
Toss to combine and serve.

Toss to combine the colours
