Easter Bunny Cakes

Want a super cute treat for all your little ones this Easter? Have fun creating these little Easter Bunnies with the kiddies and make their day extra special. Have fun!

Note: You can use any flavour of store bought cake or a packet cake mix for these, but I included a simple chocolate cake recipe below for the home baking connoisseurs out there.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes, 15-20 minutes
Cooking Time: 25-30 minutes
Makes: 6-8

60 g butter, softened
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
140g caster sugar
1 egg
100g self-raising flour
25g cocoa powder
80 ml water

Icing OR
80 g icing sugar and few tblsp water mixed to a spreadable icing
Food colouring (optional)


Chocolate Cake
Preheat oven to 180 C
Chuck everything in a mixing bowl and beat with an electric mixer.

Start on a low speed until everything is combined, then turn it up and beat for about 3 minutes or until mixture is smooth and paler in colour

Grease a shallow flat brownie tin or cake tin. Spread mixture thinly and evenly in the tin. You want it 1-1.5cm thick. Bake for 25-30 minutes

Allow to sit for 5 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool

Colour your icing with a few drops of food colouring. This will make it fun for the kids to help you

Using a small cookie cutter, cut rounds from your cake

Spread one round with icing to the edge and sandwhich with another round. You can continue with a another layer for bigger bunnies if you wish.
Cut out 2 small ears from trimmings and leftover cake and stick to the top round with a little more icing.

Depending on the size of your bunnies and the size of your cake tin, this should make about 6-8 big bunnies (3 rounds tall)
Use different coloured icing on each layer. I used Green and Yellow and alternated. Enjoy!
