Easy bread and butter pudding

Bread and butter pudding is a classic British dessert, and is one of the easiest puddings ever. This recipe is a beginner's guide to make the pudding in its simplest form.



Bread and butter pudding


Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients

Bread - a day or two old
Chocolate coated raisins - you can use plain raisins, sultanas of your choice
Apricot jam - you can also use orange marmalade
Butter
Custard - you can make this from scratch, I used Devon custard
Sugar - optional

Method
Choose a square/ rectangular oven proof dish.
Line the dish with bread slices after buttering and spreading jam on top.
Sprinkle some of the raisins on this layer
Pour over half the custard on this layer. If it seems too thick, dilute it by adding some milk and add sugar if needed.
Repeat steps 2,3,4 till the container is lined to the top.
Bake at 180 degrees for 25 mins
Serve hot/ chilled
