Gingerbread Shapes

Gingerbread doesn't just have to the classic men. It lends itself to any cookie cutter shape you have. It's great fun for kids to get involved and tastes like Christmas.



Gingerbread men, stars, christmas


Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 12-15 minutes
Makes: 10 servings

Ingredients
350g plain flour
100g softened butter
2.5 tsp ground ginger
1.5 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
175g muscavado soft sugar
1 large egg
4 tbs golden syrup

White icing to decorate

Method
Preheat oven to 180c.
Mix the flour, spices and bicarbonate together.
Add the butter and rub though with your fingertips until the consistency is fine breadcrumbs.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix until the mixture comes together.

Roll the dough until it's about half centimetre thick.
Cut out shapes and place on greaseproof paper on a baking tray.

Bake in oven for around 12-15 minutes depending on the size of your biscuits.

Cool on a wire wrack.
Once cool you can decorate with icing.
