Ingredients 1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and cut into small cubes
1 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon golden syrup
125 g melted butter, cooled
Cinnamon sugar to dust
Grease and line a 18 - 28 cm slice pan and preheat the oven to 180 degrees.
Sift the flour into a large bowl, add the apple, oats and sugar. Mix so that they are well combined.
Lightly whisk the egg and golden syrup into the melted butter. Pour into the bowl with the flour mixture and stir well until all of the butter has become incorporated.
Spoon the mixture into the slice pan and press it all down evenly. Sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar.
Bake in the oven for 30 - 35 minutes until golden. Allow to cool before removing from pan and slicing into squares.
