Granola is a delicious high energy breakfast, brunch or dessert topping. The store brought version you know and love is expensive and full of preservatives, sugar and unnecessary additives. The healthy homemade granola I love is easy to make and you can add whatever nuts and dried fruit you like.
Ingredients 5 Cups Rolled Oats
250g Trail Mix
250g Raw Almonds (or walnuts, hazelnuts, mixed nuts)
2 tsp Vanilla Essence
4 Tbls Coconut Oil
1/2 Cup of Shredded Coconut
Sprinkle of Cinnamon
Large pinch of Sea Salt
1/2 cup of Apple Sauce or Honey
Preheat the oven to 180.
Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well and don't be afraid to get your hands in there!
Sticky and Delicious.
Evenly spread the mixture on a lined baking tray.
Layer of Raw Granola.
Cook for 15 mins stirring the granola every 5 mins.
Remove once the room becomes fragrant and the granola toasted, allow to cool before storing or eating.
Serve with milk, yogurt and fresh fruit.
Served with Blueberries and Greek Yogurt.
This recipe is so versatile, try with different fruits, nuts, sweeteners and toppings. Layer it with yogurt or sorbet for a lovely parfait or sprinkle on top of your smoothies. Once you make this you will never buy Granola again!
