Offset all those chocolate eggs with a delicious and filling Easter-inspired sweet treat.

Hot cross bun slice and teacup
A brilliant complement to a cup of tea

Doesn't look like hot cross buns. Doesn't use flour, sugar or yeast.

But it is sweet, spiced, fruity and surprisingly reminiscent of hot cross buns!

Make it in the time it takes to boil the kettle.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Resting Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 10 small servings

Ingredients
1/2 cup almonds
1 cup mixed dried fruit
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup dates
1/4 teaspoon mixed spice

Method

Hot cross bun slice and teacup

Line a small tin (any shape) with plastic wrap.
In a food processor, chop almonds into large crumbs.

Add remaining ingredients and blend until a rough paste forms. If it's still too dry to stick together, add a tablespoon of water at a time.

Chill for half an hour before slicing into 10 delicious pieces. Store in the fridge.

These sound wonderful and look beautiful, certainly healthier then regular hot cross buns, although I think I shall indulge in both.
I will too :)
