Kolak Pisang (Indonesian Banana Dessert)

Kolak Pisang is a traditional Indonesian banana dessert with coconut milk.



Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 6 servings

Ingredients
4 ripe ducasse banana
500ml water
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup sago
400ml coconut milk
1 pandan leave, tied into a knot

Method
Peel the banana and cut each banana into 3 pieces.

In a stockpot, bring water and sugar to the boil until the sugar has melted.
Turn the heat to low, add in the pandan leave and the banana.
Cook for 15 minutes until the banana has changed colour.



Pour in the coconut milk, stir to mix.



Pour in the sago. Cover and cook on low heat for 15 minutes until sago turns translucent.



Discard the pandan leave. Spoon among bowls and serve.
