These tasty little cookies are so quick and easy you can almost make them while the kettle boils. If you donít have treacle, you can substitute golden syrup or honey but the cookies will not be as rich and chewy.
Ingredients 100 g softened butter
1 tablespoon treacle
150 g self-raising flour
Cream the butter and sugar
Stir in the treacle
Slowly add the flour, stirring in as you go
Form into small balls and place on trays lined with baking paper. Do not flatten but allow room for them to spread
Bake at 180 degrees for 10 minutes until light golden
Remove from oven and let them sit for a few minutes before transferring to cooler
As an added touch you might like to sprinkle some sugar on top, but these cookies are already sweet enough on their own. Donít worry if they sink while cooling Ė theyíre supposed to. Thatís what gives them their chewiness.
