Nutritious Green Lentils Dosa

A popular South Indian breakfast, easy to cook, delicious in taste and very healthy.

Soaking Time : 3-4 hrs
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 8 servings


1 cup green lentils (Moong Dal)
Finely chopped ginger
1 finely chopped green chilli
1 finely chopped onion (optional)
1/2 tbsp cumin seed
6 tbsp oil
1/2 tbsp salt


Wash the green lentils properly and soak them for 3-4 hours.
Drain the water and blend the green lentils, ginger and green chilli to make a smooth batter.
Add 4-5 spoons of water while blending.
Add cumin seeds, coriander leaves and salt and mix the batter thoroughly.
Take a flat bottom non stick pan and heat it in on a low flame.
Pour the batter in the center and spread it evenly on the pan and then pour in 1/2 tbsp oil when the batter starts drying up.
Flip the dosa with a spatula and let it cook until it turns to light golden brown in colour.
Remove it with the help of spatula and serve it hot with green chutney, coconut chutney or sauce.
