Orange Chocolate Tealoaf

This loaf is really easy to make and comes out having the consistency of a Madeira cake. In this recipe I've added a small handful of choc chips but it's equally as great with cranberries and white chocolate or any other combination you might enjoy.

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Makes: 8-10 servings

125g unsalted butter
50ml orange juice
orange zest from one half an orange
3 eggs
250ml caster sugar
250ml plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

Choc orange loaf
This tea cake is a great afternoon treat and can be made with many different additions like choc chips, dried fruit, etc.

Heat over to 175C or 340F
Whip butter and sugar together with a small amount of the orange juice until creamy
Add the eggs one at a time, the juice and the orange zest
Mix in flour and baking powder.

Add the butter and sugar together with a splash of the orange juice to make it easier to stir until it's creamy, then add in the eggs one by one.

From here, you can add in a bit of chocolate chips (I used about 100 grams), dried fruit, whatever you might like.
Pour into a baking paper lined loaf pan. Amount fits a 1.5 litre loaf tin.

Add about 100 grams of choc chips, fruit, whatever you like (or nothing at all as it's tasty with just the orange as well!)

Place in the bottom shelf in oven and bake for about 45 minutes.

Fresh out of the oven, use the backing paper to gently lift from the tin and serve either warm or cool.
