Ingredients 900 g raw deveined shrimp (thawed)
3 cans or bottles of dark beer
1 small yellow onion (quartered)
4 bay leaves
1 small bunch of fresh parsley
4 large cloves of fresh garlic
1-1/2 tbsp dried basil
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 lemon cut in wedges
Cocktail sauce if desired
Put shrimp in pot, cover with beer.
Add onion, bay leaves, parsley, garlic, basil, and pepper.
Cover and bring to boil, simmer for about 3 to 4 minutes. Immediately pour shrimp into a colander.
Peel shrimp, put in covered bowl. Place in refrigerator to chill.
Garnish with parsley and lemon wedges.
Tip: cocktail sauce can be made by mixing a little horseradish with ketchup.
