A great little comfort dish recipe to jazz up the frozen peas.
This reminds me of one of my midweek 'quickie' dinner fall backs, which is admittedly out of a packet but it's become one my family and I enjoy sometimes. It's the Continental: 'Chow mein' flavour packet. You just add mince, 1/4 cabbage or half a mini drumhead and rice. It has a soy sauce flavouring in it and the thickener too. Easy. It's kind of like an Asian style risotto, with the added benefit of having the rice contained in it and being a one pot meal! Great if you are lacking meal inspiration around midweek.
I am however, going to buy some shiitake mushrooms now and try your idea too, as it sounds quite yum and also easy.
Just a question? If you didn't have potato starch onhand, would corn flour/starch work just as well? c&c
