This cake is simple to make. It uses basic ingredients you are likely to have in the pantry and the cake is budget friendly. It is a lovely moist cake suitable for afternoon tea.

Ingredients
1 cup SR flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons margarine
2 level tablespoons cocoa powder
2 large eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence
Method
Sift the flour and cocoa powder into a large bowl.

Combine eggs, vanilla and milk and add to dry ingredients.
Melt margarine and add to the other ingredients.
Beat well for 2 minutes by hand or using electric beaters for 1 minute.

Pour into a greased round tin, lined with greaseproof paper

Bake in moderate oven for 30 to 35 minutes
Allow to cool for a few minutes and remove from the tin.

When cool, ice with chocolate icing
