Dehydrated oranges dipped in home made dark chocolate are the perfect gift for those who like bitter treats. My recipe is easy to make and lasts for weeks in a jar or bag. Give these as a Christmas gift, enjoy with a coffee or use to decorate a jaffa cake or cupcakes.

Bagged as a gift.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 2 hours
Makes: 1 gifts worth

1 large orange
2 tbs coconut oil
2 tbs maple syrup
2 tbs cocoa powder

Wash the orange, cut it in half and then into thin slices. Place the slices on a teatowel and pat away any moisture.

Arrange the slices on a wire oven rack and put in an 110 degree C oven for 1-1.5 hours.

Remove from the oven when the slices arecrisp. Note they may not be crisp up at the same time depending on how even your slices are. Remove slices as needed and leave to cool.

Place the oil, maple syrup and cocoa in a pan and melt over a low heat. Stir to combine.

Once your chocolate has formed dip half of each dehydrated orange slice in the chocolate and place on a baking sheet lined tray.

Allow to harden and enjoy as a treat or pop into a jar or bag for a great gift made with love.

NOTE: Add sugar and/or cream to the chocolate for a sweeter dish.
