Savoury Pull Apart
Tasty, fun, savoury pull apart

This savoury pull apart is tasty, fun and versatile. I add a pinch of cayenne pepper in the dough and use ham, capsicum, tomato, olives, mustard and cheese to make a tasty filling. Serve for brunch, lunch, as a snack, at parties or take to a picnic. It is best eaten warm but can be refridgerated. Enjoy!

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 25-30 minutes
Serves: 1

Pull Apart Dough
2 cups self-raising flour (gluten free, if required)
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
60g cold butter (or nuttelex if lactose free)
1 egg
3/4 cup milk (lactose free, if required)

Savoury filling
1/2 cup chopped ham
1 tomato, diced
1/4 cup red capsicum, diced
1/4 cup kalamata olives, cut
1 tbsp parsley, finely cut
1 tbsp Dijon or wholegrain mustard
Salt and pepper
1 cup grated cheese (lactose free if required)

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and line a baking tray with baking paper.
Sift the flour, salt and cayenne pepper into a bowl. Add the butter to the flour mixture and use fingertips to combine until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Beat the egg and milk in a bowl. Set aside 1 tbsp of the mixture for brushing the dough before baking.
Use a knife to mix the flour, egg and milk mixture until just combined, taking care not to overwork the dough.

Savoury Pull Apart making the dough
The dough will look lumpy as you start to add the egg and milk mixture but will combine

Put the ham, tomato, capsicum, olives, parsley and mustard in a bowl. Stir to combine. Add salt and pepper to taste.
Roll the dough into a flat 30cm by 20cm rectangle of even thickness.
Spread the filling ingredients evenly on top. Sprinkle the cheese on top.

Form a rectangle with the dough and spread the filling ingredients evenly on top of the dough

Roll the dough and ingredients into a cylinder starting from the top of the longer (30cm) end.
Gently curve the cylinder into a ring and pinch the ends of the cylinder together to seal the dough.
