Noodle Auflauf

This is one of my mother's recipes that we used to sometimes have on a Sunday night when she didn't feel like cooking a "proper" meal.

It can also be served as a dessert, and I believe it is German, as my parents were.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Serves: 4

1 pack egg noodles
2 apples, peeled and chopped
2 scoops sugar, or to taste
Handful of sultanas
Pinch of cinnamon
1 small egg
Bread crumbs
Few dobs of butter

Boil the noodles as per packet instructions, and drain.

Add the sugar, sultanas and egg.

Mix and add a dash of cinnamon, to taste.

Put in a greased Pyrex dish or Corning Ware, or similar.


Press down so it is packed fairly tightly.


Sprinkle with some bread crumbs and a few dobs of butter.

Bake in a medium oven till it starts to go brown.
