Five Festive Cocktails

Cocktails and generally whipping up less than familiar drinks are a feature of the holidays in my family. Thus I have created five festive cocktails, all with a Christmas twist. Feeling thirsty? Take your pick.



Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 2 servings

Ingredients
Christmas Southside
x 1 drink: 35ml Tanqueray London dry gin, 15ml sugar syrup, 25ml fresh lemon juice, 8 fresh mint leaves, 10 frozen cranberries, 25ml cranberry juice.

Mulled Gin:
x 10 drinks: 50cl Sloe Gin Sipsmith sloe gin, 50cl cloudy apple juice, 50cl water, cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks, one orange.

Gingerpolitan:
x 1 drink: 35ml vodka, 15ml Cointreau, 15ml bottlegreen ginger and lemongrass cordial, juice of a lime.



Hot Roots:
1 drink: 50ml Kamm & Sons, 150ml cloudy apple juice, 2 teaspoons orgeat syrup, 1 slice fresh ginger.

Very Berry
x 1 drink: 25ml Chambord black raspberry liqueur, 125ml cabernet sauvignon, 25ml fresh lemon juice, 1 teaspoon caster sugar, 3 raspberries.

Method
Christmas Southside
Add everything except cranberry juice to a highball and mix with crushed ice. Float the cranberry juice on top and add a sprig of mint.

Mulled Sloe Gin
Pour apple juice and water into a saucepan. Add a slice of orange, plus a few cardamom pods and cinnamon sticks. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add gin and heat. Serve in teacups with orange slices.

Gingerpolitan
Shake ingredients with ice, strain into a martini glass and add an orange twirl to decorate.



Hot Roots
Crush ginger in pan, then warm all the ingredients on a stove and strain into a heatproof glass.

Very Berry
Crush the raspberries in a glass with the sugar, add the wine, Chambord and lemon juice, top up glass with boiling water, then float a slice of lemon studded with 3 cloves.
