Fish Rogan Josh

Rogan josh is an aromatic Kashmiri cuisine stew dish from Persia. The stew is popular for it's aromatic heat and is usually cooked with lamb but this recipe is using fish and okra.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 6 servings

4 basa fillets, cut into big pieces
10 okra, sliced diagonally
2 tablespoons rogan josh paste
2 tablespoons tomato paste
basmati rice, to serve
pappadums, to serve


Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large saucepan. Fry the fish pieces until they are cooked, turning once.

Add in the rogan josh paste, slowly spread on the fishes.

Add in the tomato paste and pour in 4 cups of water. Mix well. Bring to the boil.

Add in the okra.

Cover and bring to the boil. Turn the heat down and simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve with basmati rice and pappadums.
