Roasted Garlic Chinese Cheese Spare Ribs

You may like to add some Chinese Cheese on your other recipes after having such scrumptious dish that can be served as starter for sharing or as main course.



Chinese Cheese is not really a milk product, but tastes like cheese in some way. It is actually fermented bean curd, usually in bite-sized cube. The cubes are usually packed in a glass bottle. Some have spicy flavour, they can be found in most Asian groceries. We sometimes like to add a little of them to make food more tasty and savoury.

Preparation Time: 1 hour
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Makes: 2-4 servings

Ingredients
500g pork spare ribs
1 tbsp fermented bean curd
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp sugar
2-3 stalks spring onion
some olive spray cooking oil
some seafood soy sauce to serve
some spring onion strips to serve
some chopped chilli to serve (optional)

Method

In a bowl, add 1 tbsp fermented bean curd (spicy or non spicy as per your preference) , 1 tbsp minced garlic and 1 tsp sugar, mix well to form a marinade.



Brush and coat the marinade on both sides of ribs. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour. Reserve remaining marinade.



Preheat oven to 200C

In a roast tray, line and arrange some spring onions, then spray some cooking oil on them.

Place marinated ribs on spring onions, brush some remaining marinade on ribs.



Roast in oven for 15 minutes.



Take out and brush all remaining marinade on the ribs.



Put in oven and roast for another 10 minutes or until crisp and golden.



Garnish with some spring onion strips, served with an extra small plate of spring onion strips/chopped chilli in seafood soy sauce on side.
