My Gramps is a wonderful cook. Not so long ago he used to make cakes and biscuits on a weekly basis and share them with us. Unfortunately his eyesight is rather bad these days, and although he still bakes occasionally on special occasions, he doesn't make his special treats that much nowadays. He has passed on the torch to me, and instead of him bringing the cakes round to us, we now take them round to him. One of the cakes he used to make, which are a favourite of mine, were rock buns. Based on the ingredients I used, each should be about 175 calories.

Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 11 servings

Ingredients
225g wholemeal flour
100g demerara sugar
100g soya butter
100g raisins
2 tsps baking powder
1 large egg

Method
Pre-heat oven to 200 ༠C/ 180 ༠C fan/400 ༠F/6 Gas.
Rub the butter into the flour and baking powder for a breadcrumb-like consistency.
Mix in the raisins and sugar.
Beat in the egg to form a dough.
Shape into buns and bake in the oven.
