San Choy Bow

There are as many traditional ways of making San Choy Bow as there are of spelling it, but I like to make mine using what I have at home already. I love it and so do the kids. This hands on dish is a fun meal for everyone and although it's not traditional it's still great.



Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 6

Ingredients
500 g minced beef and pork
3 large button mushrooms, sliced
3 spring onions, sliced
1 carrot, julienned
1 tin water chestnuts, chopped
1 tbs soy sauce
2 tbs lime juice
2 tbs oyster sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1 tsp ginger powder
lettuce cups to serve.

Method
In a fry pan over high heat, brown the beef and pork mince, breaking the mince up as it cooks.
Add the mushrooms, spring onions, carrots and water chestnuts and stir fry for two to three minutes.

Add the soy sauce, lime juice, oyster sauce, ginger powder and sesame oil and mix well.

Serve in lettuce cups.

Make this recipe using the ingredients you have in your house. If you don't have the beef and pork mince you can use chicken. If you don't have shallots you can use an onion instead.
