Ingredients 1 large brown onion
30 gm butter
1 tbsp. brown sugar
30gm plain flour
250 - 300 ml beef stock
Slice onion lengthways, add to a saucepan with butter and heat until butter melts, then add the brown sugar.
Sauté for a few minutes until onion starts to soften.
Add flour and cook out for a few more minutes stirring often. Lastly slowly add 250 ml of stock stirring all the time. Reduce heat and cook until onions are really soft and flour has been cooked out approx. 6-8 minutes. Correct consistency with remaining stock if required.
