AllNatural Tomato Sauce
Did you know that cooked tomato is better for you than raw tomato? The heat increases the lycopene content, making this natural tomato sauce particularly good for you. It also has no added sugar, a bonus in any sauce.
Preparation Time: 7 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 1 cup
Ingredients
2 tomatoes
1/2 a small onion
1 tbsp tomato paste
Olive oil
Basil
Parsley
1/2 tsp garlic
Method
Heat some oil in a pan on a medium heat.
Chop the onion finely.
Add the onion to the pan, along with the garlic.
Cook the onion until it's soft.
Remove the skin of the tomato by first boiling some water.
Slice the skin of the tomatoes down the side.
Put the tomatoes in a bowl of boiled water, cover them and leave them for 2-3 minutes.
Remove the tomatoes from the water and peel off the skin.
Much of the skin should have already started peeling
Dice the tomatoes.
Add the tomatoes to the onion, along with the tomato paste and a shake or two of pepper.
Cover the pan and cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the tomatoes have softened.
Add some basil and parsley.
