Ingredients 20 cloves garlic, unpeeled
8 slices bacon, chopped
2 tablespoons butter
2 cups of bread, chopped into pieces
4 tablespoons chopped fresh herbs
Freshly ground black pepper
400g penne or any other pasta
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees C.
Place the garlic on a lightly oiled baking tray. Bake until soft and golden - approximately 15 minutes.
Peel garlic and set aside.
Sautee the bacon in a large frying pan over medium heat until crisp and golden. Drain on paper towel.
Melt the butter in a clean frying pan, add the bread pieces, herbs and black pepper and cook until the bread is golden - approximately 5 minutes.
Meanwhile cook the pasta in a large saucepan of salted boiling water until al dente.
Drain and rinse pasta under cold running water. Drain again and dry on a clean kitchen towel.
Place pasta in a salad bowl, add the bacon, garlic and bread crumb mixture and toss well.
