Banana Oatmeal Slice
I have not just one, but all remaining teeth after multiple visits to the dentist, are Sweet Teeth! I still believe my strong senses are God's gift for me to discover sweets within a 5-mile radius! It's that easy for me to sniff out yummy treats! (much like in an Easter Egg Hunt!)
After much dilly dallying with my dietician, finalised this recipe.. BOat meal (Banana Oatmeal)! It can be enjoyed by every one (in moderation) without guilt! And for the fast and the furious, made in slice forms "to go"!
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 4 to 6 pieces
Ingredients:
Ripe bananas - 3 or 4
Apple sauce - about 1/3 cup
Oats - 2 or 3 cups (Any type)
Light milk - 1/2 cup
Raisins - 1/2 cup (can use finely chopped prunes)
Vanilla - 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
Method:
Take a cake mixing bowl and pour in above ingredients
Mix them thoroughly ensuring oats don't cluster
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
Lightly grease baking tray and pour this mixture to a height of about 20mm (ensure no clusters or dry oats)
Bake the mixture at 250 degrees for 15-20 minutes
Cut in to desired shapes or cubes when lukewarm
Note:
SUGAR is not an added ingredient!
Watch oven closely, the pieces with nuts tend to crumble easily!
Options:
- Substitute Light Milk with Almond Milk
- Can add finely chopped nuts, dry fruits, berries
- Add a 1 tsp honey (in case you like it sweet)
- Add a thin layer of dark chocolate (for kids' sake)
You can still find sugar-free alternatives to replace listed ingredients! Just as long as it stays healthy!
