Barbecued Curried Sour Cream Jacket Potatoes with Organic Steak
I rarely eat red meat, apart from bacon, and was given this piece of [link http://reviewclue.com.au/porterhouse-steak-by-dandaragan-organic-beef/ organic steak].
I decided to make jacket potatoes with curry, sour cream and fruit chutney to go with this steak, as well as barbecued onion rings, and raw red cabbage.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 35 minutes
Makes: 2 servings
Ingredients
For the potatoes
2 potatoes, unpeeled
100 g sour cream
½ tsp curry powder
2 tsp fruit chutney
For the steak
2 Pieces of good quality [link http://reviewclue.com.au/porterhouse-steak-by-dandaragan-organic-beef/ steak]
Worcestershire sauce
For the balance
2 onions - sliced in rings
Red cabbage, sliced finely
Dressing for cabbage (optional)
Method
Cook the potatoes in the microwave for about 10 minutes or till they are tender.
Put about 1 - 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce on the steaks and leave out of the fridge to stand for about 10 - 30 minutes.
Turn on the barbecue to let it heat up, and when the potatoes are done, put them on a hot plate in the barbecue and cook for about 20 minutes or until they are brown, and the skin is crispy.
Meanwhile make the sour cream mix for the potatoes by adding all the ingredients and stirring.
Put a bit of oil on the hot plate and add the onions for about 5 - 10 minutes.
About 5 minutes before they are done, turn up the heat and put the meat on the barbecue. For rare meat cook just a few minutes on each side, bearing in mind that if you overcook steak, it becomes tough. It should be browned on the outside and pink in the middle.
Cut slits in the top of the potatoes and put the sour cream mixture into each one, and serve with the steak, onions, and red cabbage.
You will have a very enjoyable, old fashioned steak if cooked in this way.
Serve with horseradish sauce, or mustard (optional) -I did not as the steak had so much flavour, it did not need more.
