Hungry, but don't have a nutritious, tasty and fruity snack? Take this oat bircher to to work, to university, but I generally like to have it for breakfast.
Preparation Time: Overnight
Cooking Time: 2 minutes
Makes: 1 servings
Ingredients
1 cup of steel cut oats
Greek yogurt
half a cup of almond milk
1 tsp strawberry jam
A scrape of vanilla pod extract (optional)
Handful of
blueberries
strawberries
raspberries
Airtight container
Method
Put the milk and oats in bowl, cover and microwave for two minutes.
Put the remaining ingredients and oats in the airtight container and stir. Leave in the fridge overnight.
Check it in the morning, it should be all 'smushy' and oatily perfect.
I used a KILNER glass clasp jar - you can buy these in most supermarkets and specialist kitchenware stores, but if not an airtight tupperware container works just as well.
This recipe makes a delicious variation to oats, and you'll be saving the amount you'd spend on a breakfast like this in Starbucks or Waitrose, they charge a fortune for something like this. Make this berry oat bircher the night before and you'll have saved money and satisfied your hunger.
