Bircher Muesli

Bircher muesli, for something so simple, is actually incredibly versatile. Whether it's an instant breakfast or snack, or a healthy dessert alternative, or even a sneaky 'breakfast for dinner' recipe, you can always rely on it.

Here I have provided the base recipe for bircher muesli, and listed some ways to enjoy it. Feel free to share your ideas in the comments section as well!

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 0 minutes
Makes: 6 servings


3 cups plain oats
1.5 cups apple juice
1.5 cups plain yoghurt (or flavoured if wanting a certain taste).

Place ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.

Optional: At this stage you can add any other ingredients you wish - for example, we have added currants and sliced almonds to this mixture - otherwise feel free to add after the oats have soaked.

Cover and place in the fridge for at least 4 hours (over night is preferable).

Variation Ideas
add 1/2 banana, cinnamon and a teaspoon of honey
add 1/2 grated apple and a pinch of nutmeg
add a sprinkle of dess. coconut and mix through a tsp of raw cocao powder
top with 1/2 cup of mixed berries
