Butterscotch Buttons

Ingredients
125g butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/2 cup of brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon golden syrup
1 1/4 cups self- raising flour
Method
Beat butter, essence, sugar, and golden syrup in small bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy; stir in sifted flour
Roll 2 level tablespoons of mixture into a ball, place about 5cm apart on a greased oven tray; flatten slightly with a fork
Bake in slow oven (150C or 300F) for about 30 min or until firm; lift onto wire rack to cool
