Cheese and Potato Pie

Possibly the easiest, quickest, most satisfying dish when you want something simple, home-like, and tasty. This is cheese and potato pie.

Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 5 servings

Ingredients
Half a tsp black pepper
2 onions
4 large potatoes
2 tblsp of butter
100g grated cheese
2 tins of baked beans

Method

  • Chop the onions (or put in a food processor - take 10 seconds) and put in a frying pan with a little oil, leaving on a low heat to soften for 10 minutes.



  • While they soften put a pan of water on and peel and chop the potatoes, adding as you go. Leave to boil for 10 minutes.



  • Once the onions have softened add to the potatoes along with the butter, cheese, and a bit of pepper to taste. Mash the potatoes and put in the oven for 15 minutes at 180 degrees (gas mark 4)



  • The cheese goes nice and crispy, and slightly golden brown. It's perfect at this point.

  • Put the 2 tins of baked beans in a microwavable dish and heat for 3 minutes, removing after a minute and a half to stir.

  • Remove the pie and start plating up!



  • Kids love this dish, cheese, potato, beans - what's not to love?!
