Chili Dark and White Chocolate Coated Tortilla Strips
I have tried another sweet, savoury recipe and this one is a fantastic snack when you are not quite sure whether you want sweet or savoury to fill a gap!
The chili mixed with the melted chocolate and dipped in the tortilla strips, make a scrumptious dessert as well, and would go well with sweet, plump strawberries. However, I, being greedy, ate half of them in one hit.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 3 minutes
Makes: 20 tortilla chips
Ingredients
1 cup chocolate -I used dark with a bit of white
20 [link http://reviewclue.com.au/white-corn-tortilla-strips-by-mission/ tortilla strips]
1 - 2 tsp chili paste from a jar, plus a bit of chili powder or flakes
Method
Mix the chili and chili flakes in a small bowl.
Put the chocolate in a microwave dish.
Use whatever combination of chocolate you wish
Melt the chocolate in the microwave. You MAY need to add a bit of water if it is too thick.
Add the chili in with the chocolate -I then needed to add a bit of water as the chocolate went quite thick, and it needs to be a bit runny to dip the chips into.
I needed to add a bit of water at this stage
Dip the chips into the chili, chocolate mixture and put on a tray lined with baking paper.
I left a bit at the end undipped so you can pick them up without chocolate melting on your fingers
Refrigerate for about 30 minutes, and serve.
They will keep in the fridge though after about 4 or 5 days I would think they would go soggy and lose that nice crispness, so don't hide them away as they will be eaten quickly if offered!
