Chocolate Chip Scones
Perfect for afternoon tea, school lunches and cake stalls.
Easy to prepare moist scones
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 12-14 servings
Ingredients
2.5 cups self raising flour, sifted
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1.5 cups milk
1 tablespoon icing sugar
50g butter, melted
2/3 cup of milk chocolate chips
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 210°C.
Step 2
Combine sifted flour, baking powder and icing sugar
Step 3
Stir in the egg, milk, butter and choc chips
Step 4
Let mixture rest for 25 minutes on a floured board
Step 5
Roll to 2cm thickness and cut out circles using a glass.
Step 6
Place scones on a baking tray covered in baking paper and allow to rest for another 10-15 minutes.
Step 7
Bake for 10-12 minutes
Step 8
Serve while warm with jam/marmalade and butter or freshly whipped cream.
