Chocolate Chip Scones

Perfect for afternoon tea, school lunches and cake stalls.

Easy to prepare moist scones


Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 15 minutes
Makes: 12-14 servings

Ingredients
2.5 cups self raising flour, sifted
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg, beaten
1.5 cups milk
1 tablespoon icing sugar
50g butter, melted
2/3 cup of milk chocolate chips

Method
  • Step 1
  • Preheat oven to 210°C.

  • Step 2
  • Combine sifted flour, baking powder and icing sugar

  • Step 3
  • Stir in the egg, milk, butter and choc chips

  • Step 4
  • Let mixture rest for 25 minutes on a floured board

  • Step 5
  • Roll to 2cm thickness and cut out circles using a glass.

  • Step 6
  • Place scones on a baking tray covered in baking paper and allow to rest for another 10-15 minutes.

  • Step 7
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes

  • Step 8
  • Serve while warm with jam/marmalade and butter or freshly whipped cream.
