We are always on the lookout for ways to include young children in the cooking process and these Chocolate Balls are the perfect solution. The unhulled tahini gives them quite a healthy taste, and you could substitute peanut butter is that is preferred in your household.
Children (and of course children at heart) will have a "ball" getting their fingers covered in this gooey honey, tahini and best of all - chocolate mixture. I was surprised at how well very small children can make a ball shape unassisted, but you'll be lucky if any make it onto the plate. Most of our mixture ended up on the children's faces and the floor was covered in dessicated coconut, but it sure was a heap of fun.
Below is the basic recipe, but you could add nuts (chopped walnuts, pecans, pepitas or sunflower seeds) or dried fruit such as dates, sultanas, apricots or even experiment with rolling them in sesame seeds instead of dessicated coconut.

Chocolate Balls
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 0 minutes
Makes: About 20 Chocolate Balls
Basic Ingredients
1 1/2 cups almond meal
1/2 cup unhulled tahini
2 tablespoons raw honey
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 cup dessicated coconut

Ingredients ready to mix
Method
Combine the almond meal, unhulled tahini, raw honey and cocoa in a medium sized mixing bowl.
Thoroughly mix together with your fingers, before rolling the mixture into 2 centimeter diameter sized balls.

Rolling the mixture into balls - the fun part
Roll each ball in a bowl filled with your dessicated coconut, ensuring there is enough to cover the outside of all the balls.
Serve on a tray at your next afternoon tea party. Enjoy.
