Chocolate Banana Breakfast Quinoa Porridge

Quinoa is often thought of as a grain, but its actually a seed. It is gluten free, and often used in salads, but it can also be cooked as hot oat free porridge.

Delicious quinoa porridge


Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Makes: 2 serves

Ingredients
1 and a 1/4 cup of almond milk
1/2 cup of water
Pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of cacao powder
1/2 cup raw quinoa
2 teaspoons of honey
1 banana mashed
1 tablespoon of walnuts

Method
  • Rinse quinoa through a fine mesh strainer, this will stop the seeds from going down the drain.
  • Once quinoa is washed, bring to the boil in a small pot.

  • Bring to the boil with milk and water


  • Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook stirring occasionally until all the liquid has been absorbed. (About 10-15 minutes)

  • Porridge simmering


  • Remove quinoa from the stove and transfer into two serving.
  • Mix in the mashed banana, cacao and honey.
  • Chop walnuts and place half on top of each. Serve and enjoy warm.
