Chocolate Banana Breakfast Quinoa Porridge
Quinoa is often thought of as a grain, but its actually a seed. It is gluten free, and often used in salads, but it can also be cooked as hot oat free porridge.
Delicious quinoa porridge
Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes
Makes: 2 serves
Ingredients
1 and a 1/4 cup of almond milk
1/2 cup of water
Pinch of salt
2 teaspoons of cacao powder
1/2 cup raw quinoa
2 teaspoons of honey
1 banana mashed
1 tablespoon of walnuts
Method
Rinse quinoa through a fine mesh strainer, this will stop the seeds from going down the drain.
Once quinoa is washed, bring to the boil in a small pot.
Bring to the boil with milk and water
Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer and cook stirring occasionally until all the liquid has been absorbed. (About 10-15 minutes)
Porridge simmering
Remove quinoa from the stove and transfer into two serving.
Mix in the mashed banana, cacao and honey.
Chop walnuts and place half on top of each. Serve and enjoy warm.
