Chocolate Chip Muffins

Freshly baked melt in your mouth chocolate chip muffins.


Preparation Time: 25 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes
Serves: 10

Ingredients
1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/3 cup oil or 2.6 ounce melted butter
1 cup sour cream (you can replace it with buttermilk)
1 cup chocolate chips

Method
  • Preheat oven to 220 degree C.
  • In a large mixing bowl, mix together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and baking soda.
  • Add egg, vanilla essence, butter or oil, and sour cream.
  • Stir with a spoon until mixed, do not over mix it.
  • If the batter looks thick add a splash of milk.
  • Batter will be lumpy and thick but it is supposed to be like that.
  • Mix chocolate chips in one tablespoon flour and gently fold in batter. ( reserve one tablespoon flour from one cup for chocolate chips coating).
  • Line a muffin tray with cupcake liners or tulip/parchment liners. I would suggest using tulip liners as they give perfect look.
  • Scoop the batter in liners, filling around 3/4th of liners.


  • Sprinkle the top with few more chocolate chips.
  • Place in preheated oven, bake for 2 minutes and then reduce the temperature to 170 degree.
  • Continue baking for further 15-20 minutes or until the tops become golden and cracky, and the toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.


  • Let them cool down.
  • Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee.
