This delicious, easy, healthy slice is a perfect snack or for lunch boxes. This chocolate flavoured slice is sweetened with dates and is gluten, lactose and nut free.

This is a great refined sugar free snack
Preparation Time: 10 minutes (plus 30 minutes to set)
Cooking Time: 2 minutes
Serves: 16
Ingredients
1 1/2 cup dates
1 cup boiling water
2 tbsp cacao or cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
2 tbsp tahini
1 tbsp coconut oil, melted
1 1/2 cups desiccated coconut
Method
Put the dates and boiling water in a bowl. Microwave uncovered for 2 minutes or cover and leave for 1 hour, to soften.
Use a fork to squash the dates into a smooth paste.

The dates should be soft enough to mash
Add the cocoa, vanilla essence, coconut oil, tahini and stir until combined.

I stirred the other ingredients and added the tahini last
Add the coconut and stir to combine.

Slice mixture
Wet your hands and press the mixture into a 15cm x 15cm square dish and refrigerate for 30 minutes or until set.
