Chocolate Granola Bars

Oats and chocolate are a combination I love. These simple granola bars are a healthy treat. They are vegan and oil free but the use of dairy milk and chocolate can be used if you prefer. I used peanuts in this recipe but almonds and hazelnuts work great too!



Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 6 hour's to set
Makes: 10 bars

Ingredients
18 dates (soaked in hot water)
1 handful of unsalted nuts
4 tbsps flour
1 cup of oats
Pinch of salt
2 tbsps maple syrup
2 tbsps of almond milk
100-150 grams of dark chocolate



Method
  • Soak the dates for a minimum of 30 minutes in hot water.

  • Drain the dates and blend them with the nuts until you have a chunky paste.

  • Mix the paste with flour, oats, milk, maple syrup and salt.



  • Line a tray with baking paper and scoop the mix in. Spread evenly and press down firmly.

  • Melt the chocolate and pour over the mixture. Place in the fridge for 6 hours or overnight OR pop into the freezer for 2 hours.



  • Cut into squares or bars and store in an air tight container for up to a week.
