Chocolate Marble Pound Cake

Marble cake is a classic favourite, distinguished by its soft, buttery flavours and the unique marble swirls that are never the same. It makes the perfect teatime treat.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

100g unsalted butter
½ cup caster sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla essence
3/4 cup, 2tbsp plain flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp cocoa powder


Preheat oven to 180°C, grease and line a loaf pan.

Beat butter and sugar together until smooth and creamy.

Add in the eggs and beat well.

Sift in the flour and baking powder.

Fold the ingredients together.

Halve the mixture and separate into two separate bowls

In one bowl, add 2 tbsp flour and in the other add the cocoa powder.

Distribute the plain mixture into the four corners and centre of the loaf.

Fill the remaining areas with the cocoa mixture.

Using a knife or skewer, cut through the mixture and move around creating a marbled pattern.

Bake for 30 minutes or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.

Serve warm.
