Cinnamon Poached Pears

Cinnamon poached pears are the perfect treat for a cold winter day and taste fabulous with some creamy morning oats.

Cinnamon poached pears on oats, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and honey.


Preparation Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 4 servings

Ingredients
2 pears
1 Lime
1 Cinnamon stick
1 Star anise
1 Tablespoon of brown sugar
4 Tablespoons of honey
3 cups of water

Ingredients consist of honey, pears, lime, star anise and cinnamon sugar.


Method
  • Peel the pears, cut the cores out and cut them into quarters.

  • Pears ready to be poached.


  • Place 3 cups of water into a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the cinnamon, star anise, brown sugar, honey and the juice of the lime. You can also add the remainder of the whole lime.

  • Add the pears to the water and leave to boil on a medium to high heat for 15 - 20 minutes or until pears are poached to perfection.

  • Pears poaching to perfection.


  • Remove saucepan from stove and slide a fork through the pears to ensure they are soft and ready.

  • Leave the pears to cool in their liquid before serving.

  • Leave pears to cool before serving.
