Cinnamon Sugar Buns

Soft warm buns coated with sweet cinnamon sugar, perfect for morning breakfast or after school snack for the kids.



Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 16 buns

Ingredients
2 cups milk
7g dry yeast
2/3 cup brown sugar
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
55g unsalted butter, diced, soften
1 tsp salt

Toppings
20g butter, melted
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Method
  • Preheat the oven to 200°C. Make the cinnamon sugar by mixing the sugar with cinnamon in a bowl, set aside.

  • Heat the milk in a microwave for 90 seconds. Pour into a mixer bowl and sprinkle in the yeast. Let the yeast soften, about 2 minutes.



  • Mix in the brown sugar and 2 cups of flour. Stir butter into the mixture.



  • Add the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour and salt.



  • Knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough has formed and not sticky to touch.



  • Shape into a ball, place in a lightly greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Leave to rise in a warm room until doubled in size for an hour.



  • Deflate the dough, divide into 12 pieces. Roll and shape the dough into desired shape, then arrange on the baking sheet.

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until top is golden brown. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
