Cinnamon Sugar Buns

Soft warm buns coated with sweet cinnamon sugar, perfect for morning breakfast or after school snack for the kids.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 16 buns

2 cups milk
7g dry yeast
2/3 cup brown sugar
4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
55g unsalted butter, diced, soften
1 tsp salt

20g butter, melted
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 200C. Make the cinnamon sugar by mixing the sugar with cinnamon in a bowl, set aside.

Heat the milk in a microwave for 90 seconds. Pour into a mixer bowl and sprinkle in the yeast. Let the yeast soften, about 2 minutes.

Mix in the brown sugar and 2 cups of flour. Stir butter into the mixture.

Add the remaining 2 1/2 cups of flour and salt.

Knead for about 5 minutes, until the dough has formed and not sticky to touch.

Shape into a ball, place in a lightly greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Leave to rise in a warm room until doubled in size for an hour.

Deflate the dough, divide into 12 pieces. Roll and shape the dough into desired shape, then arrange on the baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes until top is golden brown. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
