Classic ChocCaramel Slice
This classic slice is sure to delight your guests, with the coconut base, chewy caramel and smooth chocolate on top is is a real treat. Enjoy!
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 25 minutes (plus chilling time)
Makes: 25 servings
Base Ingredients
1 cup self raising flour, sifted
1 cup dessicated coconut
1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
125g butter, melted
Caramel and Chocolate Ingredients
1 x 335g tin top and fill caramel
1 tbsp butter
220g milk chocolate, broken into squares
Method
Preheat oven to 160 degrees.
Combine flour, coconut, sugar and butter in a medium sized bowl, mixing until crumbly.
Press mixture firmly into a lined 20 x 30cm tin and bake for 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Mix top and fill caramel with butter and microwave for 1 - 2 minutes (depending on your microwave), stiring at 30 second intervals until smooth.
Spread caramel over the base, pushing right to the edges. Bake again for 10 minutes, then leave to cool.
While caramel is setting, melt milk chocolate with butter in a saucepan set over simmering water. Stir gently until smooth.
Once chocolate is melted pour it over the caramel, once again spreading all the way to the edges.
Refrigerate slice for 3 hours to allow all layers to set, then cut into squares to serve.
