Cookies and Cream Truffles
Basic truffles are made with the base of chocolate and cream cheese. Both of these do not scream vegan, however there are brands such as
Tofutti and
Sweet Williams that create alternatives that are both yummy and easy to find in your local supermarket. Another plus is that
Oreo cookies are also free from animal products including diary and eggs.
These truffles are easy to make and extremely decadent. They are great for a quick snack and perfect finger food for a party. You and your guests won't be able to stop eating them!
Preparation Time: 25-30 minutes
Makes: 20 servings
Ingredients
227g Tofutti cream cheese
150g packet Classic Oreo Cookies, coarsely chopped
250g White or milk
dairy free chocolate
Choc chips, nuts, coconut etc., for decorating
Method
Stir together cream cheese and chopped cookies until well combined. Roll into small balls (approx. 1inch) and place on paper lined tray and refrigerate until firm.
Melt chocolate in a bowl over simmering water until it begins to melt. Remove from heat and continue to stir until completely smooth.
Drip balls into chocolate and allow for excess to run off. Place onto lined tray and decorate. Refrigerate until firm. Store in airtight container, refrigerated, until needed.
