Crispy Peking Beef

I have always loved the peking steak from my local Chinese restaurant, but always wondered how it tasted so good! So after much experimentation, this recipe tastes really good (if I do say so myself)!

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Makes: 5 servings

Ingredients
1/4 cup Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon of crushed garlic
500g stir-fry beef
2 cups of Breadcrumbs
1 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons sweet chilli sauce (or sweet and sour sauce if you prefer)

Method
  • Mix together the soy sauce and crushed garlic.

  • Pour the soy mixture over the beef and leave to marinate for about 3 minutes.
  • Pour the oil into the hot wok.
  • (To check to see if the oil is hot enough, place a wooden spoon or chopstick into the oil. If the oil bubbles instantly, the oil is hot enough.
  • The oil must be hot so the beef doesn't soak it up.

  • Toss the beef in the breadcrumbs, until each piece is completely covered.
  • Place about 6 pieces of the crumbed beef into the oil at a time, fry for about 2 minutes or until the crumb is golden brown.

  • Remove from the oil and while hot, drizzle with the sweet chilli sauce.
  • Served with homemade fried rice.
