Double Chocolate Brownies

Nothing beats a homemade brownie fresh from the oven. These brownies are extremely decadent and a breeze to make. Every time I take them to a party they are the first dessert to go.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Makes: 20 squares

2 cups of self raising flour
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1/4 of a cup of cocoa powder
1 egg
200g of butter
100g of milk chocolate chips (walnuts or white chocolate chips can be added also).

Mix flour, sugar and vanilla essence in a bowl.
If the butter is at room temperature fold it through. *If like me you forget to take the butter out of the fridge, warm it slowly in a fry pan or microwave and pour into the mixture, mix well.

Add the egg. Make sure the mixture is cool so you do not end up with scrambled egg in your bowl.

Add the cocoa and roughly chopped chocolate chips.

Pour into a lined baking tray and put into a hot oven.
Bake at 180 for 20 minutes or until the brownie is only slightly soft to touch.

Remove from the oven and flip onto a chopping board.

Cut the brownies when they are slightly cool but not cold to avoid crumbling.

Serve with cream, fruit or gobble them on there own.
