Doughnut French Toast

This breakfast bake is perfect with lashings of maple syrup or add some berries for a fresh start to your day. Make a double batch and it is perfect for a lazy brunch with the extended family.



Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients
5 slices of white bread, cubed
4 eggs
1 ½ cups milk
4 tbsp caster sugar
¼ tsp salt
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp cinnamon

Method
  • Preheat oven to 180 degrees (fan forced).
  • Lightly butter oven proof dish and scatter in the bread cubes.
  • In a large bowl, mix together milk, eggs, 2 tbsp of sugar, salt and vanilla.
  • In a small bowl mix 2 tbsp of cinnamon.

  • Pour egg mixture over bread cubes. Dot with butter and allow to soak for 10 minutes.

  • Evenly sprinkle cinnamon mix over the top.

  • Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and slightly puffed.
  • Serve warm with maple syrup or your favourite fresh berries.
